Whip it Up Wednesday: Button Upcycle!

Just for fun this week, I decided to try and do something cool with these boring old button pins (remember these?) instead of throwing them away.

They have flat front sides which are perfect for collage/decoupage!

With a few helpful items such as stamps, magazine images (I've been collecting these for a while- can you say HOARDER?), Mod Podge (my hero!) I created some masterpieces..

I'm reading about Marie Antoinette right now so that was my inspiration for this "Let them Eat Cake" button. Did you know that it is actually not likely that she ever said that?

Apparently, the poor people longing for bread had been ascribing the phrase to hated monarchs and aristocrats long before she had the throne of France!

This is a distinctly Alice in Wonderland inspired Pin. I love how it looks like everything is spinning into the center (which is a clock face)!

An Elegant silhouette on black lace paper. Simple grace.

So here they all are!

This button pin is adorable!  How perfect: If wearer is found depressed, ADMINISTER CHOCOLATE IMMEDIATELY :)

Linking up to Jennifer Rizzo's Linky Party!

Rhode Island!

Here are the pictures from my weekend in Rhode Island!
We saw Providence and Newport.

The Famous Biltmore Hotel.

Lobster Bar right on the wharf.

Cupcakery within walking distance of where we stayed..uh-oh!
This one was a chocolate cherry cabernet cupcake. Say that three times fast! lol.

This is in Newport. There were trails you could walk right along the coast.

This old house in Providence entertained some pretty famous people in it's day such as COLE PORTER!!! LOVE!

Batman roams the streets.

I couldn't help it.. Pink ruffle butt. lol.

We caught this amazing sunset on the way home.

Marci did my hair for another big dance party. I love it! The make up I did myself though! Aren't you proud of me?

The Pancake Experiment: Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes

Here's one you are sure to love!
I whipped these up over the weekend when I was going to make my famous blueberry pie pancakes but the boyfriend forgot to get blueberries!
We had strawberries, though, so these strawberry shortcake pancakes were born :)

First, gather all these ingredients and combine them in a large bowl :
1cp strawberries, cut up

1cp flour
4TBS rolled oats(the old fashioned kind)
1tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp baking powder
1Tbs sugar
2/3cp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1Tbs oil
Spray pan with no stick spray and allow pan to heat up before pouring batter onto it.

When you see bubbles form in the batter, it's time to flip them over. Cook a minute on this side then they are ready!

I like mine with whipped cream on top.

It's a perfect Mother's Day brunch recipe. I usually get dolled up for brunch. These beautiful vintage gloves would be perfect for such an occasion! They are for sale on my copious page and you can get free credits to spend through my link!! Check it out.

I will be in Providence this weekend {squeals} so there might be some pictures next week!
