I was reading fellow blogger, Dana Clover's post (over at www.cravingcomfort.blogspot.com) about shamrock shakes the other day where she tells of the trials and tribulations of getting her hands on a shamrock shake in Texas (no can do, apparently). No shamrock shakes in TX?!?! I feel her pain though. I've lived in NY & VA(where they allegedly DO have shamrock shakes, yeah, OK) and have yet to taste one. But not for lack of trying, mind you. Oh no! Every March I confidently walk up to the counter, money in hand and proudly order my shamrock shake only to be informed that they have run out. RUN OUT!?! EVERY TIME I HAPPEN TO BE NEARBY?!? REALLY?!?! <shakes head> I have given up, MCDonald's, given up. I will have to adopt Miss Dana's approach and make my own I Don't Need No Stinkin McDonald's Shamrock Shake!
I started with Miss Dana's recipe but then I thought, hey, wouldn't this be way better (and infinitely more Irish, like) with a shot of Bailey's (or generic brand)Irish Cream?!
The answer was a definite YES.
Here's how I did it so you too can experience the magic: 2cp vanilla ice cream 1 cp milk 1/2tsp mint extract 1shot (or more ;)) irish cream 2 drops green food coloring
Put in Blender and mix until combined. Pour into glass. Optional: add chocolate syrup (but why not?)
Wow, that looks delicious. I've never even heard of a shamrock shake. I have to try it. :)
